Other activities in the preschool curriculum include
art activities, which are open-ended and emphasize process and not product.
These actives may include crayons, colored pencils, easel activities,
clay, and cutting.
The teacher brings music into the classroom each week through songs,
finger plays and dances. She introduces musical instruments and rhythm
with rhythm sticks and other simple hand instruments are also incorporated
into the program.
Outdoor activity is a part of each day. Large motor play helps strengthen
the physical body as well as increasing coordination.
The study of arts, history, culture, science and technology all
complement each other in the Montessori classroom, just as they do
in the real world. A child's desire to learn is never stifled as
his curiosity leads him from one subject to another. This integrated
approach is one of Montessori's greatest strengths.
In committing to a three year Montessori program, we strive to achieve
our ultimate goals: to help each child develop a foundation of habits
attitudes, skills and ideas that will form the basis for a lifetime
of creative learning.
